MATLAB Community Development

Matlab is the most widely used and accepted modelling software for engineers and scientists. The community of engineers and scientists in Africa needs to leverage the robustness of this tool towards advancing their research. At the university of lagos, I served as the student ambassador for Mathworks which developed the software. With tootelage from their engineer and the engineering community, I strive to promote research amongst the students and the academia by sharing my knowledge and experience towards the advancement of the MATLAB software.

Robotics for Humanity

This is a group founded on whats-app by engrgit  during his reign as the chair of IEEE on OAU campus. It is a closely tied mentoring group for robotics lovers and hardware developers.  As a small research group of 3 members, we are called the ihun squad. We are working on a robot called ihun. More information about this is coming soon.

Hardware Developer Community in Africa

I engage the African hardware community by writing engaging articles on medium to drive the discussions needed to drive the advancement of the field. I also connect all industrial and academic players of the field and engage in  public discuss or mentoring of new members interested in hardware. The community has over a thousand member and its growing everyday.

IEEE Chair Role

I volunteered as the IEEE chair for undergrad. The title implies the most powerful tech person on campus. My mission was to work with my other seventeen executives to drive the advancement of technology at our campus. I engaged in mentoring, delivering key not speeches and representing the university at both local and international competitions.

IEEE Computational Intelligence Society

During my administration, I created the Computational Intelligence Society IEEECIS  with over a thousand members which is meant for students interested in machine learning and artificial intelligence. I partnered with both industrial and academic experts to teach members the rudiments of  machine learning for 12 weeks via online classes delivered at real-time via internet for student -tutor  engagements. The program was highly successful with over 100 testimonies from participants able to lunch their AI career from the program.

NYSC Camp Coordinator

During my NYSC program at Black Gold Camp in Kaduna State, I contested to be the NYSC program organiser for all 30,000 coppers at that camp. My role involved  liaising between the camp administrators.

1st Ambassador for MathWorks in Nigeria

Earlier this week, I was introduced as the first ever ambassador MathWorks will be having from Nigeria during our global ambassadorship meeting. As I relect on this, the lesson is - we have what it takes to be world class in us. We have to continue to believe in ourselves and strive for the best. The true competition isn't in Nigeria or our immediate environment. It is in us becoming world class and not giving up on ourselves. Anything we do, we have to be able to compete at the world level by striving to get better at all times.

Appointement by Nigerian Research and Education Network (NgREN)

MATLAB Launches Student Ambassadorship Programme at UNILAG with Support from NgREN NgREN, in partnership with MathWorks , has facilitated the selection of Mr. Ibrahim Gbadegesin as the first MATLAB Student Ambassador at the University of Lagos (UNILAG). Representing NgREN, Mr. AbdulKarim Giwa Suleiman emphasized the importance of equipping Nigerian students with globally recognized tools that foster innovation and skills for the future. As Ambassador, Ibrahim will lead awareness, training, and outreach to expand MATLAB and Simulink adoption at UNILAG and beyond. This milestone highlights NgREN’s commitment to partnerships that connect Nigerian academia with global platforms for teaching, research, and innovation. Congratulations, Ibrahim!

Checkoja

Checkoja is a reliable platform to check the current prices of goods in local markets across Africa. Powered by remote data routing and real-time data analytics. The goal is to create the heartbeat of the African e-commerce ecosystem that allows people to track prices at their convenience while also providing a databank for old prices and connecting millions of local markets to the internet. As a son of a farmer who has viewed this ecosystem for decades, the economic analysis of the market can be checked in terms of prices and the tech must be deployed locally. As a Yoruba boy, I call this innovation check oja which means, view market. It is debatable that price availability might not be novel enough as Jumia and other e-commerce platforms have done so for accessories especially in Nigeria. The lacuna lies in foodstuffs and local farmers who belong to the poor class of which uniquely using data analytics and AI will transform their lives. This beckons for a layer of local penetration ...

Building for Africa

That is why I focus on building AI solutions for Africa, irrespective of whether the Western version already exists. It is a fact that Western tools often don't perform well with local feature detection or deployment realities in Africa. In Africa, however, we like to talk and watch others do things for us. With my AI works, I hope it inspires more innovators to build for Africa and iterate till it fits our local contexts. Individually, this will give us confidence that we are not spectators and allow us to contribute significantly to the league of AI research. Africa should not just be a deployment zone. It can also be the building zone that prevents AI solutions from being biased in Africa. No GPT of the future can guarantee that without us. I believe that the key contribution is our work to do.

Review of 2024

Building AI solutions for Africa requires more than just technical expertise - it demands persistence, vision, and a deep understanding of local challenges. 2024 proved that combining technical innovation with practical solutions can drive real change in African markets. As we advanced our work on identity verification systems, each challenge reinforced why local context matters in AI development. Key milestones that shaped our impact: • Won 2024 MBB Grant Award (2x winner) for Ojumi platform • Promoted to Head of AI at Gamol Studio • Began MSc in Electrical/Electronics Engineering at University of Lagos • Led development of AI-powered identity verification solutions Most impactful developments: "Ojumi AI-Powered Identity Verification" Designed to address fragmented identity systems and expand financial inclusion across Africa https://www.linkedin.com/feed/update/urn:li:activity:7276479942123540480/ "Advancing AI Research in African Markets" How local context shapes...

Temperature and Pressure Control Simulation

We considered an interacting loop and process fermentation. Models the fermentation tank temperature and pressure dynamics. Uses PID control for both temperature and pressure. Simulates the system's response to heat (yeast) and CO₂ disturbances. Plots real-time regulation toward setpoints.
